Nan S. Famular
The Honorable Nan S. Famular was appointed to the bench of the Superior Court of New Jersey in 2005. During her first 10 years on the bench, she served in the Family Division, deciding divorce issues, civil union disputes, custody and parenting time disputes, alimony, child support, domestic violence, relocation of children and all family-related issues. For the last eight years on the bench, before her retirement, she served as the Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division of Camden County. During those eight years she handled cases involving shareholders and labor disputes, partition actions, affordable housing, probate and will contests, guardianships, and medical directive disputes among many other areas of the law.
During her tenure she served on the Judiciary Surrogates Liaison Committee and prior to becoming a Judge, served on the District IV Ethics Committee.
Before being appointed to the Bench, she was a partner at Sherman, Silverstein and Kohl from 1980 until 2003, practicing law as a general litigator and real estate attorney.
Judge Famular then became a partner with Adinolfi & Spevak from 2003 until her Judgeship in January 2005.
Now, in her retirement from the Bench, Judge Famular is hoping to use her skills to mediate and resolve cases for those who are trying to avoid the Court system, or who find themselves stuck in the cost and complexity of litigation and need to end their disputes.
